Year 9 Media is a one-semester elective in which students explore and analyse how media texts are designed and constructed in order to elicit a response from an audience. Students investigate aspects of film and online media forms, and complete practical tasks where they design and construct their own media products.
Students explore a range of media texts by analysing, describing and evaluating the conventions that govern them. Students are introduced to the metalanguage of Media and consider the purposes and functions for which texts are created.
Students develop their own media products while exploring conventions of media forms. Through a process of planning, filming and editing, students design and create their own products, making use of relevant computer-based software.
Assessment tasks will be undertaken via written and practical assignments.
