Visual Communication Design: Digital Design and Interactive Media is about designing digital experiences that communicate ideas, stories, and messages in contemporary screen‑based contexts. Students develop practical and conceptual skills across digital design, branding, user experience, and interactive media. Through hands‑on, studio‑based learning, students explore how designers combine visual communication, storytelling, and interaction to create engaging and purposeful digital outcomes.
An exploration of graphic design foundations applied to digital branding and communication. Students investigate typography, layout, colour, and visual hierarchy to develop brand identities and cohesive visual systems that communicate clearly and effectively across digital platforms.
Investigating how users think, behave, and interact with digital interfaces. Students explore user‑centred design principles, interface layout, accessibility, and interaction logic to develop concept‑driven digital experiences that prioritise clarity, usability, and engagement.
Developing creative digital outcomes that communicate ideas or stories through interactive or time‑based media. Students work through pre‑production, production, and post‑production processes to create resolved digital, interactive, or narrative works using industry‑standard software and workflows.
Each project contains practical, design, and reflective components. All are assessed with regular feedback and rubrics. An end‑of‑semester examination will assess students’ understanding of digital visual communication, design thinking, user experience principles, and creative response skills.
