BIRRELL, Douglas James (1928-2025)
Doug was enrolled at the College in 1937, having
previously attended the North Geelong State School. He was a keen sportsman and
often placed high in the Preparatory School sports. He was Dux of the Preparatory School in 1941,
and also served as a Prefect that year. At the Senior School he was a member of
Warrinn House and won house athletics colours in 1943. He also served as one of
the vice presidents of the debating society in 1994, and won the Stanley
Calvert Prize for debating.
Doug went on to study architecture at the Gordon Institute of Technology before heading the the University of Melbourne, where he gained his Bachelor of Architecture in 1951.
Doug passed away 4 October 2025, aged 97 years.
