HEARD, James Bromell (1932-2026)

Jim was a Mackie House boarder during his time at Geelong College, 1946-48. On finishing school, he studied wool classing at the Gordon Institute before returning to the family property at South Wonwondah, near Horsham. After completing National Service, he married Margaret and had three children. His long and successful career as a grazier with a passion for merino wool production began in partnership with his brothers Alan (OGC 1950) and Peter (OGC 1954) and continued with his son. He was always a very active member of his local Wonwondah and Horsham communities, through committees, church and Rotary. His active community involvement continued in retirement. Amongst other honours, he was awarded CFA Life Membership, Australia Day 2014 Citizen of the Year Citation and during his 60 years in Rotary he received the honour of being a Paul Harris Fellow. He is remembered by all as a true gentleman, kind and generous.
