His death notice appeared in 'The Argus' newspaper on 10 July 1915. 'CARMICHAEL. - On the 22nd June, 1915, at "Narlga," Spofforth street, Mosman, New South Wales, John Fraser, second son of the late George Carmichael, of Retreat Station, Casterton, aged 62' .
His brothers, Robert Carmichael; George Williamson Carmichael; and William McQuarrie Carmichael; were also educted at Geelong College.
