COOKE, Allan Stewart (1922-2009)


Allan Stewar Cooke (Football 1939),
Born in South Australia, Allan Cooke attended Scotch College, Adelaide before becoming a boarder at The Geelong College in 1939 where he continued until 1940. Although he played in the 1st football teams of 1939 and 1940, tennis was his first talent. So much so that not only was he the boys' singles tennis champion in 1939 and 1940, but also the doubles champion in 1939 with W K Mckenzie.

He served in World War II, enlisting on 14 January 1943 in 2/8th Battalion.
