DALEY, Francis Stanley (1891-1983)


'Frank' Stanley Daley, mechanical engineer, was involved in the early development of the Holden car by General Motors Holden (GMH).

He worked with Laurence Hartnett at GMH until he left to become Technical Manager for Kelvinator Australia Ltd in 1951. He notably published an account of the development of the Holden car entitled ‘The Holden Saga’ in the Victorian Historical Magazine of February, 1967.

Frank Staley was born to parents Charles Daley and Carol Rose nee Bromfield at Bendigo on 2 November 1891. One of three brothers, he was the only one to attend Geelong College where he was enrolled as a day student from 1907 to 1908.
