DYKES, Clifford John (1922 -2012)

Clifford John Dykes, dairy farmer was a member of both the 1st Cricket Team and 1st Football Team at Geelong College in 1938 and 1939.

He attended Nhill Higher Elementary School prior to his education at College from 1936 to 1939. He became Warrinn House Captain in 1939, and was also a member of the proposed 1937 Athletics Team which was not able to participate in the Combined School Sports that year. As an all-round athlete he participated intensively in the College Sports meetings winning the long jump and coming 2nd in the Under 15 Championship at the College Sports in 1936. He performed in the Glee Club production ‘Trial by Jury’ in 1938.

His son Ian, OGC 1969, was also a boarder at the College. Clifford died at Colac 4 January, 2012.
