Gordon boarded at the College 1952-1954, coming from Amphitheatre, and completing Form IV to VI. He was a keen runner and served on the relay team and rowing crew. Music was also a lifelong passion, and he was a member of the Music Committee and involved in the Gilbert and Sullivan productions under George Logie-Smith. Gordon went on the Central Australia Expedition as part of the Exploration Society in 1954.

Following school Gordon began a Science degree at the University of Melbourne. After the first year he transferred to Medicine which would become his career. Gordon became a well respected endocrinologist. In the late 1960s he was awarded a travel grant to work and study in Cleveland at the University Reserve Lakeside Hospital. Going into private practice, he also held positions at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Prince Henry Hospital and Alfred Hospital.

Gordon was married to Kerry and they have 6 children. Gordon’s brothers also attended the College, Brian (dec) OGC 1946 and Tony OGC 1954.
