FLETCHER, Kenneth Scott (1948-2024)

Scott boarded at the College from 1960 to 1965. He was a keen sportsperson, starting in the cricket and football teams at the Preparatory School. In 1962 he was captain of the White House at the Preparatory School which won multiple cups that year: Inter-House Football Cup, Athletic Cup, Cricket Cup, and Trophy for Work and Conduct. By 1965 he reached the 1st Football team and 2nd Cricket teams. He was awarded multiple Warrinn House Colours for cricket, athletics and football.
After leaving Geelong College Scott returned to the family farm “Wynlaton” at Skipton. He became heavily involved with sport, service and the community.
In 1975 he married Joan Kirkpatrick and they had a family of Darren (OGC 1995), Fiona, Christie (OGC 1999) and Scott (OGC 2001).
Scott’s love of cricket took him all over the world. He toured in 1972 and 1974 with the Australian Old Collegians. In 1986, 1989, 1993, 1997 and 2001 Scott organized World tours for mainly cricketers living in the western district of Victoria. The team toured under the name of “Western Plains Cricket”. Scott had friends all over the world and had travelled to at least 60 countries.
Scott was granted Life Membership of Apex and the Skipton Cricket Club, and also awarded 50 years of service to Cricket Victoria. He also was a 50-year member of the MCG.
