Charles was a resident of 60 Hesse St, Queenscliff when he was enrolled at Geelong College as a day student by Mrs D E Hassall from 12 February 1948 to December 1952. He had previously studied at Queenscliff Higher Elementary School.
A conspicuous sportsman at College, he was a Cadet Corps Corporal, a member of the Under 16 A Football Team of 1950, the 1st Football XVIII in 1951, the 1st Cricket XI in 1952, the Athletics Team in 1949 and the Relay Teams of 1949 and 1950. He also earned House Colours for Tennis.
He died on 22 October 2015.
