HINCHLIFFE, John Ronald (1944-2019)

John Ronald Hinchliffe was born in 1944, Geelong, to Alan Richards (1913-1999, OGC 1928) and Emma Hinchliffe. He was enrolled at Geelong College, starting kinder in 1949 and leaving Senior School in 1961. Whilst at school he was involved in swimming, football, athletics, rowing and the cadets. His brothers David (OGC 1953) and Timothy (OGC 1959) also attended College.

Following school, John worked in sales and married Laurel. During his life, John was the publican at Kalangadoo Hotel (near Penola, SA) and Oakbank Hotel, SA. He was also the Manager of the Old Collegians Rugby Union Club (Linden Park, SA).

John was a long-time member of the Kiwanis, a global volunteer organisation for improving children’s lives.

More recently John had moved back to Victoria to be closer to family, settling in Harrietville.

His daughters also attended College.

John passed away 30 March 2019 in Albury.
