HOLT, John Nicholas McCann (1929-2021)

John Holt was enrolled at The Geelong College in 1944, Form IVA. He previously attended Geelong High School. A day student, his parents William and Hilda lived at 10 Beach Parade, West Geelong (now Drumcondra).

John went on to become a prominent Geelong citizen. After starting his career as a wool valuer, he first was elected as a City of Geelong councillor in 1971. He served on the council for 10 years including three years as mayor. Prior to his election as Mayor, he had been Chairman of the Traffic Committee and a member of the Parks and Beaches, Finance, and Building and Town Planning Committees. In 1973 he joined the Geelong Football Club board, serving for nine years, including as president from 1980-1982.

John was married to Jill and they have three children: Tim OGC 1969, Andrew OGC 1971 and Jayne. He was also grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of 11.

John passed away 22 December 2021, aged 92 years.
