MACGUGAN, James Alastair (1951-2017)
James Alastair Macgugan studied at Hamilton College before moving to Geelong as a boarder from 3 February 1966 to December 1969. He was awarded the Alexander and John Coto Prize in 1967 and in 1969 the Robert Gillespie Prize. In 1969 he rowed in the 2nd VIII, became Captain of the 4th XVIII Football Team, a member of the Athletics Team, the Social Service Committee and the Library Council. He played in the Pipe Band.
His father, Alan James Macgugan OGC 1933, and brother, Roderick Hugh Macgugan OGC 1969 also boarded at College. ‘Jim’ died at Hamilton on 23 February 2017.
