Roy William Miller was born at Ballarat on 19 February 1898, the son of Francis Thomas Miller and Gertrude Hannah Victoria nee Patrick. Roy attended Donald State School before becoming a boarder at Geelong College in February 1912. He left in December 1915. His address at enrolment was 'Ayrlie', Donald, Victoria.
He is listed erroneously in Geelong Collegians at the Great War and possibly confused with another Miller listed on the Memorial Tablet 'J A Miller'.
