MORRIS, Russell John (1944-2020)

Russell Morris was born 28 March 1944 to Ivan and Claire Morris. He was enrolled at The Geelong College in 1956 in Form UIV and left in 1959 in Form IV when he came third in his class.

Russell would go onto work at Cheetham Salt Ltd and the formation of the Ridley Corporation Ltd, before moving to his own business venture including the Distillery Logistics Pty Ltd.

Russell was active in the Geelong and wider community. He served on the Geelong Football Club Board 1977-1982 and was more recently a member of the Geelong Major Events Committee. He was also a member of the Geelong Amateur Football and Netball Club where he was a premiership player, coach and committee member.

Russell’s daughter Sally (OGC 1993) is a successful waterskier and an inductee in the OGCA Notales Gallery. Russell supported he pursuits through his own involvement in the waterskiing community, having served as Chairman of Moomba Masters Waterski Tournament and President of the Oceania Confederation International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation.

Russell passed away 31 August 2020, aged 75 years.
