MYERS, Clove (1900-1938)


Clove Myers was born on 5 April 1900, the elder of two sons of Clove Myers and Mary nee Powner. He became a day student at Geelong College, enrolling on 10 February 1913 and was recorded as earlier attending 'Mr Greenfield's Prep School'. His address at enrolment was Western Beach, Geelong. Clove was a member of the 1st Football XVIII in 1916 and the Athletics Team in 1913 and 1914.

During World War I, he enlisted (No 72222) and entered camp with the Public Schools Unit on 30 April 1918. On the 7 May 1918 he passed the riding test for the Light Horse at Broadmeadows, Victoria and volunteered for Egypt after transferring to Battalion H2. Myers was discharged from the AIF without embarking for overseas service due to the AIF demobilisation on 22 November 1918.

His brother, Walter Myers (1903-1970), was also educated at Geelong College.
