'Frank' McFarland, the third son of Andrew McFarland and his wife Jane Archer nee Dowling, died on 20 May 20 1953. He was born at Hay and spent the years 1890-1896 as a boarder at the College, winning the Geelong College Cup in the family tradition.
He was an outstanding sortsman, in cricket as a member of the 1st Cricket Team in 1895 and 1896, and in the 1st Football Team in 1894, 1895 and 1896, finishing as captain of both senior teams in his final year. In 1896 he was also Boat Captain.
Residing at 'Canoon,' near Hay, NSW, Frank also became widely known - as a sheep expert and sportsman.
