OMAN, Geoffrey Gardner (1949-2017)
Geoffrey Gardner Oman, known as ‘Joffa’ and son of William Oman (1910-2003) OGC 1925, was among College’s most talented cricketers and played with Kent County 2nd XI, St Kilda and Geelong.
He was a day student from 13 February 1964 to December 1967 becoming a member of the Athletics Team in 1966 and 1967 and the 1st Football XVIII in 1966. Cricket was to be his strength and he became a member of the 1st Cricket XI for 3 years from 1965 to 1967, Co Vice-Captain in 1965 and Captain in 1967 as well as winning the W H Hill Memorial Cricket Trophy in 1967. In 2011, he was selected in the Geelong College Team of the Sesquicentenary. His brother, Warwick OGC 1970, was also educated at College.
Geoff died on 2 February 2017 aged 67 years.
