PHILLIPPS, Malcolm Tarlton (1896-1984)
Malcolm Tarlton Phillips was born on 29 September 1896, the son of William Herbert Phillips and Caroline Mary nee Tarlton. He was was a student at St Peter's College, Adelaide, before his enrolment as a boarder at Geelong College in February 1911. He left in December that same year. His address at enrolment was Gilberton, Adelaide.
During World War I, he enlisted (No 35235) in the AIF as a Gunner with the 12th Field Artillery Brigade on 15 December 1916. At about this time he married Helen Reeves and they were resident at Partridge Street, Glenelg, South Australia.
He embarked for France with the 27th Reinforcement Group on HMAT A15 Port Sydney on 9 November 1917, serving in the campaigns in France to the end of the war. He embarked for return to Australia on 24 December 1918.
