David Phillips was born on 7 April 1935 and became a day student at Geelong College from 13 February 1941 to December 1952. His address at enrolment was 'Moorak', Noble St, Newtown (Bareena).

He died on 20 March 2017, aged 81 years, at Warrnambool.
His son Bradford, OGC 1979, was also educated at Geelong College.
