ALLEN, Frederick Garth (1938-2015)
Garth Allen, farmer of ‘Cooinda’ Teesdale has led a career of dedication to the farming community.
A life member of the Geelong Harness Racing Club and Life Councillor of the Royal Geelong and Agricultural Society, Garth has been active in many pursuits including teaching Wool and Rural Studies at the Gordon Institute. Born on 26 January 1938, he attended Teesdale State School before his enrolment at the College from 14 February 1952 to December 1955. A member of the 2nd XVIII Football Team in 1954, he captained the team the following year. He ran in the Relay Teams of 1953 and 1955 and, in 1955, was co-winner of the College Cross Country championship. He was awarded the Alexander and John Coto Memorial Prize for consistent academic work in 1954.
Garth died on 9 July 2015.
