ARMSTRONG, Robert George (1950-2017)


Robert George Armstrong was enrolled as a day student at Geelong College from 10 February 1955 to December 1968. He had previously been at the Morongo Nursery School. His address at enrolment was 21 McDonald St, Geelong West. At College, hebecame a member of Calvert House and played in the 1st Boys Hockey Teams of 1967 and 1968.

He worked for the Ford Motor Company for 22 years and with the Australian Army Reserve for 42 years retiring from the Army Reserve in 2014. He continued as a school bus driver until 2016.

He was an active community member with ten years service in the Counrty Fire Authority (CFA) and assisted the aged through the Winchelsea 'Meals on Wheels' delivery service for twenty years. He was also Treasurer of the support group 'Parents without Partners' 1985-1987, and Records Sectretary for Geelong and District Men's Hockey 1974-5.

His brother, Alan was also educated at Geelong College.
