ATKINS, Norman Grant (1907-1961)
Norman Grant Atkins, pharmacist, the son of George Atkins and Nellie nee Grant, was educated at the Geelong College from 1921 to 1924. In 1924, he was a member of the College Athletics Team.
He had previously attended Terang State School. He attended the Melbourne Pharmacy College, later establishing a pharmacy in Toorak Rd, Melbourne. During World War II he enlisted in Sydney on 28 September 1942 serving as Flight Lieutenant and pharmacist with No 25 stores unit.
Pegasus
noted that he had served
’with the RAAF Medical Corps in Australia and the Pacific Islands’
and that he was a member of the Apex Club and the South Yarra Tennis Club. The
Norman Atkins Memorial Choir Prize
is named after him.
