BAULCH, Alexander James (1954-2013)


'Alex' Baulch, an active community member and grazier, was a well-known figure in his local district. A former President of the Hamilton Club and a Country Fire Authority (CFA) committee representative, he was also a determined conservationist, responsible for much replanting on his property to protect gullies and waterways. He was also an avid collector of historic guns, rifles and ammunition.

'Alex' commenced his education at Coleraine State School before becoming a boarder at Geelong College from 1965 to 1972, playing in the 2nd Football Team of 1971; the 4th rowing VIII of 1971 and captaining the 3rd XVIII Football Team in 1972. In 1972, he was also a House Captain. After leaving the College he spent some time jackarooing before commencing to farm on his property at Mt Koroite near Coleraine. He married Topsy in 1983 and was the father of two children Jean and Gordon. He died on 11 May, 2013.
