BRUSHFIELD, Peter Robert (1947-2021)

Peter was enrolled at the College from 1962-1965, matriculating in Form VI Humanities stream. His father Owen (OGC 1922) also attended the college, as did his son Tom OGC 2002. Peter captained the 3rd XI’s cricket team and received Calvert House Colours for cricket in his final year. He was also vice-captain of the 3rd XVIII cricket team. His artistic skill was showing from this early age when he received the Sun Youth Art Award.

Peter went on to have a career in art and teaching. He taught at Redcliffs High School, Wangaratta Technical College, Swinburne Community School, Geelong High, Westbourne Grammar, as well as the Austin Gray Centre at The Geelong College.

Peter has exhibited in a number of solo and group exhibitions, including Beechworth Art Gallery, Parry Gallery, QDOS Gallery Lorne, Feral Art Gallery, Albury Art Gallery among many others. In 1974 he received the NSW Regional Galleries Prize. His works feature in collections such as Albury Art Gallery, Wagga Art Gallery and Private Collections.

Peter passed away 21 October 2021, aged 73 years. He was father of two and grandfather of four.
