CALVERT, Donald Keith (1946-2022)

Donald Calvert was enrolled as a boarder at The Geelong College in 1957, beginning in Form UIVB to Form V. His father Neil OGC 1933 and brother Alec also attended the school.

Donald was a keen sportsman, playing in a number of teams from his early years at the school. In 1960 he captained the U14A cricket XI which won that year’s KW Nicolson Cup for Best aggregate performance of any school team in Inter-School Cricket Competition. He continued to play cricket, reaching the 1st XI in 1963 which were APS Co-Premiers that year. He also received School and Calvert House colours for cricket.

Donald also served on the football teams, reaching the 1st XVIII in 1962. The team won the APS premiership in 1963. He received School and Calvert House colours for football, as well as House athletics colours.

A boarder, Don was elected House Prefect for Warrinn in 1962 and Mackie House in 1963.

After school Donald went on to work as a grazier on the family property at Hopkins Hill, Caramut. He was married to Jane and they have four children.

Donald passed away 21 September 2022, aged 76 years.
