CAMERON, Maxwell Alan James AM (1935-2022)

Max Cameron boarded at The Geelong College from 1951-1952. He was a member of the 1st and 2nd XVIII football teams as well as the Relay team. He also was part of the 2nd and 6th VIII rowing crews and reached the rank of Sergeant in the Cadets.

Following school, Max would eventually move to Western Australia. In the 1960s, Max with first wife Nola, started a farming business near Arthur River.

Max would go on to become an influential figure in agriculture. Roles include those with the WA Meat Commission, WA Livestock Transporters’ Association, Land Tenure Drafting Committee, Pastoralists and Graziers Association of WA and National Livestock Export Industry Council of Australia. Max would play a key role in the WA Meat Marketing Cooperative Limited.

In 1991 Max was made Member of the Order of Australia for service to the meat and livestock industry.

Max passed away 17 July 2022, aged 86 years. He is survived by his wife Lisa, four step-children and eight step-grand children.
