COLVILLE, George (1887-1970)


George Colville created the portrait in oils of Charles Shannon, first Chair of The Geelong College School Council, which hangs in the Senior School Dining Hall.

Colville studied painting and drawing at the National Gallery school under Frederick McCubbin and Bernard Hall. He won the Albury Prize for oil painting in 1951. His work may be seen in the Australian War Memorial, Canberra and the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV).
