Barry GF Cougle, born 28 May 1938, was enrolled as a boarder at The Geelong College Preparatory School in 1949. He was an academic and athletic student, often placing in various sports events and coming third in his class in 1953. Barry’s football prowess was recognised, and he played in the U15 and U16, 2nd XVIII before joining the 1st XVIII in 1955.

After finishing at the College in 1955 Barry would go onto to play professional football at the Geelong Football Club. He played his first senior game in 1958 wearing the number 13. He played 14 games from 1958-1959, kicking 7 goals.

By 1975 Barry and his family had moved to Coffs Harbour where he worked in land development and real estate.

Barry passed away 13 April 2018, aged 79 years.
