DAVIES, Edward Brightwell (1916-1976)


Edward Davies, known as 'Digger' and 'Eddie' was the teacher in charge of Physical Education and Sport at Geelong College from 1958 to 1976.

He was originally appointed in 1955 following his discharge from the army and at various times was in charge of cricket, athletics and baseball. He coached both first teams and junior teams and took a leading part in the Cadet Unit. He had a close involvement with the Church, YMCA and the Geelong Football Club. He was Housemaster of Mackie House from 1973 until his death in 1976. The E B Davies Weight Training Room in the Rolland Centre was named after him.
