DOBIE, Ian Meldrum (1946-2024)

Ian boarded at the College, attending from 1951-1962. At Preparatory School he often placed in the annual sports competitions and in 1957 was the U11 swimming sports champion, when he repeated in the open category a year later. He joined the Senior School swimming team in 1961 and 1962. Apart from swimming, Ian was also a member of the cadets, and football and cricket teams, reaching the 2nd XVIII in 1962.

Following school, Ian completed National Service training at Scheyville, NSW, with follow up training in the Royal Australian Army Service Corps at Puckapunyal. He later returned to the Wentworth area, working as a grazier at Wenba.

Ian passed away 16 March 2024, aged 77 years.
