EATON, Peter Charles Godfrey Eaton (1925-2024)

Peter boarded at the College from 1937 to 1942, starting at the Preparatory School on Aphrasia St. He had previously attended Werribee State School. His name features in the Pegasus magazines, recording his placing in school sports, a role in the Junior Dramatic Society production of Peter Pan, and as the cox of rowing crews. Those crews, the Junior and Senior fours, won trophies at the Annual School Regatta in 1941.

Following school Peter went on to jackaroo with Cowley Pastoral Co., Charleville before enlisting in the RAAF in 1945. He then joined his father’s farming property in Gippsland. Peter married Maragaret Millar in Brisbane, 1952. Then in the 1960s, Peter and Margaret moved to Western Australia.

Peter made lifelong friends at the College and remained in touch with the school attending Perth Reunions. In 2020 the College interviewed Peter at his home, where he reminisced about school days. He loved the small school community, where all the boarders new each other. During the war, he remembered digging trenches on Mackie Oval and identifying aircraft as they flew overhead.

Peter passed away 17 February 2024, aged 98 years.
