Robert 'Bob' Lyall Falcner was born 24 October 1932 to Herbert Wilmott and Edna Lyall Falconer. He started his schooling at Newtown State School before joining Form UIVB in Term 3 1944. He boarded in Warrinn and two brothers also attended College, David (OGC 1944) and John (OGC 1947).

At school Bob excelled on the sporting field, playing in both the 1st XI cricket team and 1st XVIII football team in his final year, 1949. In the same year he received House Cricket and Football Colours, as well as Football Caps. Reports in the Pegasus show Bob as an all rounder cricket player. In a mostly new team, the coach reports that “With the exception of one bad spell at the crease, Falconer showed good control with his leg breaks; they lacked "nip" off the wicket, however, due probably to his youth.”

Following school Bob went on to work in business. In the 1960s he was an agent in Willaura and in 1980, a stock manager near Bendigo. In 1999 he was a Financial Consultant with United Fuels Pty Ltd.

Bob married Lorraine and they went on to have four children, Timothy, Stephen, Andrew and Richard.

Bob passed away 13 November 2018, aged 86. He leaves behind wife Lorraine of 62 years, his four sons and their families including eight grand children and five great grandchildren.
