GILL, Geoffrey Richard (1942-2022)

Geoff was enrolled at The Geelong College in 1954, beginning at the Preparatory School. He was captain of the U15A football team which won the VH Profitt Cup in 1957 for best aggregate performance of any College team in the inter-school football competition. Geoff then went on to play with the 1st XVIII team in 1959. That same year he received School and McArthur House Colours, and Cap for football. He also played in the 2nd XI cricket team and was a member of the swimming Team.

Geoff married Debbie who was a PE teacher at the Preparatory School for 10 years and they have two children who also attended the College. In the 1990s, Geoff and Debbie founded the Geelong Aquatic Centre, demonstrating their commitment to inclusive learn to swim programs.

Geoff passed away 25 December 2022, aged 80 years. He is remembered as a caring and generous man, a stalwart of Geelong’s swimming community.
