GOWTY, Greville Frank (1928-2020)

Greville Frank Gowty was born 16 November 1928 to Charles and Adeline, of Drumcondra. First attending North Geelong State School, Greville was enrolled in Form Upper IV B at the Geelong College Preparatory School in 1940. The following year he was appointed a house prefect for Bellerophon. He left school after completing Form IV B in 1945.

Greville went on to become an architect. He married Marjorie Henry in about 1954 and they settled in Sandringham. They would go onto have two children.

Greville was Member of Royal Brighton Yacht Club since 1975 and Commodore of the Queenscliff Cruising Yacht Club 1994-1996. In Queenscliff during his tenure, Greville helped negotiate the Club’s lease with the Department of Conservation and National Resources. He also was involved in the design and building the causeway bridge. At Royal Brighton Yacht Club, Greville was the architect of one of their major builds.

Greville Gowty passed away 20 April 2020, aged 91 years. He was a husband, father, grandfather of two and great grandfather of one.
