HODGES, Norman Fenwick (1894-1971)
Norman Hodges was born 10 April 1894, the son of Harry Barkley Hodges and Margaret nee Cunningham.
In Geelong, he was a member of the Citizens Forces Light Horse 'C' Squardron 29th LH.
He enlisted (No 25986) as a driver in the AIF on 11 February 1916, embarked with the 2nd Reinforcement Group, 3rd Divisional Ammunition Column, on
HMAT A67 Orsova
on 1 August 1916 for France. The Geelog Advertiser reported in July 1917 that
'Dvr. N F Hodges, son of Mr and Mrs H B Hodges, writing from France by letter received this week says he is well.'
The following year he was accidentally wounded by a gunshot wound to the face on 27 March 1918. He took leave with pay under the Repatriation and Demobilisation Scheme, from 8 April until 8 July 1919, to study Wool classing at the London Wool Exchange. He returned to Australia on
HMT Bahia Castillo
, embarking on 17 April 1920.
Norman Hodges died in 1971.
