For his service to the community, Andrew Lawson (OGC 1956) was honoured in the Queen's Birthday Awards of June 2017 with the Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia 'for service to the community of Geelong.'

President, United Way Geelong (now Give Where You Live), 1985-1987; Board Member, 1979-1991; Campaign Director, 1978; Life Membership, 1993.

Development Officer for Community Foundations, Philanthropy Australia, 2002-2012. Board Member, Australia Community Philanthropy, since 2015.
Former President, Rotary Club of Geelong, 2000-2001, 2010-2011; Member since 1984; Recipient, Paul Harris Fellow.
