MACKIE, Richard (-2023)

Richard was a teacher at the College from 1962 to 1964. He arrived in Australia with his wife to teach French to the lower forms, having previously taught at Queen Elizabeth School in Devon. During his time at the College he introduced Hockey to the sports program and was the House Master of Morrison House. Richard also supported the Exploration Society trips, including the Otways, north-east Victoria and Flinders Island.

Richard and his family left the College at the end of 1964, heading overseas to England and Europe to gain further experience. They returned to England and in the early 1970s Richard was appointed to the Headmaster position at Ravenswood School, Stoodleigh Court near Tiverton.

Richard passed away 13 March 2023, aged 92 years.
