Stephen Miles (Pegasus 1962)
He taught first at Melbourne Grammar School, Wadhurst, and was resident Tutor in Perry House in 1966. At the end of 1966, he went to England and taught for the first half of 1967 at the Canterbury Cathedral Choir School. During the academic year 1967/1968 he was at Worcester College Oxford, studying for the Dip Ed and teaching part-time at the Dragon School. After two years as an English teacher at Hampton Grammar School, Middlesex, Stephen went to America to teach at St Paul's School, Concord, New Hampshire and later Georgetown Day School, Washington DC. He then returned to the UK and in 1974, he graduated with an MA in American Literature from University College, London. He continued post graduate studies in English at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he also taught English, and was granted a PhD from the University of California in 1980. After three years as a Lecturer in English at UCLA, he returned to Australia in 1983 to study Theology at the Melbourne College of Divinity.
