PRICE, Alfred John (1876-1946)

Alfred John Price, born on 14 November 1876, was enrolled at Geelong College as a day student on 15 April 1890. His address at entry was Aphrasia St, Newtown.

He was awarded the following academic prizes:
1890, 1st, English, 2nd Class.
1892, 1st, English, 3rd Class.
1892, 2nd, Geography, 3rd Class.

Pegasus noted his passing:
'Alfred John Price died at Geelong on February 20. He had various business interests in this city, and his public activities included membership of the Geelong Hospital Gala Board. He was a lover of cricket, followed all important matches and was one of those instrumental in forming the Geelong Cricket Association, his personal loyalty, being for the North Geelong Club. His son, Leigh, attended the College from 1924 to 1931.'

His brothers, Frank Neath (Heath) Price (1893-1979), Columbus Leigh Price (1886-1948), Henry Richard Price (1878-1951), David Walter Price (1880-1934), Herbert Phillip Price (1875-1949), Sydney (Sidney) Evan Price (1874-1945), and son, Leigh Alfred Price (1915-1977) were also educated at Geelong College.
