ROBB, Robert John, AM (1930-2018)


Robert John Robb became a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Australia Day honours on 26 January 1991, for his service to primary industry and the community.

He had a long association and senior positions with the Geelong Agricultural and Pastoral Society (President 1974-1980), the National Farmers' Federation, the Geelong Grain Handling Committee and the Port of Geelong Authority (Deputy Chairman). His outstanding community service work has been with Geelong West Rotary Club (President 1975-76), the Grace McKellar Centre (President 1988-1991), the Geelong Performing Arts Centre Trust (President 1980-1986), the Victorian Hospital Association and the St David's Parish Council.

Born on 3 September 1930, he attended Geelong High School prior to becoming a day student at Geelong College from 7 February 1946 to August of 1946. His three sons and two grandsons were also educated at Geelong College. He would go on to work in farming, living at Glenpanyall, Hamlyn Heights.

He died on 27 September 2018, aged 88 years.
