ROBERTSON HALL

Robertson Hall at Middle School was named after Lieutenant-General Sir Horace 'Red Robbie' , ROBERTSON, Lt Gen Sir Horace Robertson (1894 – 1960), a distinguished Old Collegian, who bequeathed a significant sum of money for a Hall at the Preparatory School. The first Hall was opened by Rev J Gray Robertson, Sir Horace’s brother, on 14 February 1962.

As a consequence of growth in student numbers and the growing importance of the Performing Arts in the curriculum the Council’s 1985 Strategy Plan identified a need for a much larger facility. This replacement Hall and Music Complex, built in 1990, and opened by D W 'Bill' Rogers still bears the name, 'Robertson Hall'. It includes a staff room, six small practice rooms, two ensemble rooms and two classrooms, in addition to the auditorium. Bill Rogers’ father, Brig. John David Rogers (1895-1978), had also spoken at the opening of the original Hall in 1962.
