ROCK, Dr William (1865-1940)


William Rock was born on 9 May 1865, son of James Rock and Elizabeth nee Wilson.

William was a day student at Geelong College enrolling on 10 February 1880, and matriculating that same year. He qualified in Medicine at Melbourne and Edinburgh Universities.

During World War I, he enlisted in the AIF with the rank of Captain on 16 December 1916, aged 50. Rock served with the Australian Army Medical Corps (AAMC) in France. He embarked for return to Australia on 31 December 1917.

His brother, Robert Wilson Rock (1856-1925), was also educated at Geelong College.
