Will Thornton was enrolled at The Geelong College in 1985, starting Year 7 at the Preparatory School. His father David Thornton had just joined college staff at the Senior School as an Art teacher. When Will entered Senior School in Year 9, he was part of Coles House and in the U15 Hockey team. He achieved Junior House Colours and received Merit Awards for Mathematics, History, English and Latin.

For the 1988 school year Will and his family moved relocated to Western Australia, where he completed his high school education at Guildford Grammar School. Will’s early working life was teaching high school maths and science; however, he soon pursued a medical career.

Will studied medicine at Flinders University, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2003. He then specialised in General Practice. With his medical expertise, Will worked and volunteers in various aspects from working as a GP in WA and the UK, as well as a doctor for Earbus Foundation and a board member of Hannah’s House. His special interests were paediatrics, palliative care and emergency medicine as well as primary health care, rural medicine and medical education.

Will and his family relocated to the UK where he worked as a GP from 2017.

Will passed away 11 August 2021 at Kingswood, Aylesbury, aged 47 years.
