Local Government Councillor and grazier, Robert Walker was awarded a medal of the Order of Australia in 1990 for service to primary industry, particularly sheep breeding.

Robert was born at Goroke, the son of Robert Percy Walker and Irene nee Gardner. He first went to Goroke State School but in 1940 commenced at the Geelong College as a boarder. He left the College in 1943 at the end of his Form V year after winning colours in cricket and rowing. He played in both the School 1st Football XVIII and Cricket XI in 1942 and 1943 and also ran in the Relay Team in 1943.
