Brian Wood was born to Alfred, a station manager, and Millicent Wood, of Grassmere. Brian was home-schooled before being enrolled at Geelong College in 1951, he began in Form UIVB.

A member of Shannon House in Senior School, Brian was involved in many activities across the school. He served on the House of Guilds Council from 1954-1957 as well as the PFA in 1957. He rowed from an early age, starting on the 4th VIII in 1955, by 1957 he was rowing bow position in the 1st VIII and won the Head of the River that year. He also played football in the winter months and was vice captain of Shannon in 1957.

Brian completed his matriculation in Form VI, 1957.

Brian went on the become a respected stock and station agent, especially in Victoria’s Western District. He was posted around the area from Penshurst, Casterton, Mortlake and Hamilton. The family then settled in Geelong in 1978 with Brian joining Dalgety.

Brian and Elizabeth married in 1966, and they have three children.
