RANKIN, John Mildred Colquhoun (1892-1974)


John Rankin was born at Urana, New South Wales on 20 May 1892, the son of Duncan Rankin and Elizabeth nee Sanger (1861-1894).

He was enrolled as a boarder at Geelong College in 1908 with an address at the time of 'Goonnambil', Corowa, New South Wales.

He Enlisted (No. 6566) in the AlF on 23 April 1915 with the 4th Field Artillery Brigade, and embarked for Egypt on HMAT A18 Wiltshire on 18 November 1915. He was promoted Lieutenant and served with 2nd Divisional Artillery throughout the campaigns in France. Rankin returned to Australia, embarking on 29 May 1919.
