RUSSELL, David Kincraig (1923-2015)
David Kincraig Russell boarded at College from February 1935 to July 1942. Though he played in the 2nd XVIII Football Team in 1941, rowing was his preferred College sport. During his time at school he worked his way up from the 4th VIII of 1940 to the 1st Rowing VIII of 1942. Fellow Old Collegian, Ken Nall said that David rowed in the Head of the River on a Saturday and enlisted on the Monday.
David served with the RAAF in Australia and from mid-1944, in England. He was discharged from the RAAF on 7 February 1946. His father, James Kincraig Russell (1899-1965), and brother, Ronald James Kincraig Russell (1922-2014), OGC 1935, and two of his granddaughters all received education at College. David, age 91, died on 18 March 2015.
