SALTER, Richard Fulton (1937-2013)

Richard Salter farmed at his property ‘Inverness’ near Coleraine in Western Victoria. ‘Dick’ farmed all his life in Western Victoria and was a keen fisherman and bowler. He was President of the Balmoral Bowling Club from 1986 to 1988 and of the Far West District Bowling Association in 1992-3. He was a long serving member of the Shire of Wannon from 1973 to 1984, its President in 1977-8 and, in his local community, a member and President of the Gringegalgona Rural Fire Brigade for many years.
A boarder at College from 1951 to 1954, he had first been taught at Balmoral State School. A member of Shannon House and a corporal in the College Cadet Corps, he was also a member of both the 1953 and 1954 First Football Teams. He died on 3 April, 2013 at Hamilton age 75 years. His brother, Terry Salter, also attended College.
